We are conducting passive trapping and testing of the mosquito species known to carry West Nile Virus (WNV) around different locations in Tucson, Arizona.
Mosquitos of the genus Culex, specifically the species tarsalis and quinquefasciatus, are being collected weekly via passive CO2 and BioGents sentinel trapping. Testing for active WNV infection via PCR is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025.
